Beaded Ruffles

Everything is in bloom!

The more I looked at the double petunias, the more I wanted to make something in Spring/Easter colors.  What I ended up with is a modified version of Marina Nadke‘s “Lively Links” (Bead & Button, Oct. 2009), using size 15 and 11 Delica’s in Ceylon colors and a silver floral clasp.

A closer look at the “ruffles”.

Bead Challenge – Day 30

Make something using cord or ribbon…

On a scale of 1 to 10, yesterday’s ambition was about a 2 and creativity was -2. So, I waited until this morning to do the last project.

I started to stitch the cab only using green but it seemed a little bland.  My tulips provided the color pop I was looking for.

Many thanks to Fusion Beads! I’ve really enjoyed the challenge and seeing all of the projects. There are a lot of very talented beaders out there!

Bead Challenge – Day 28

Make a piece inspired by an animal…

Sabrina & Trinity (aka, “The Fun Girls“) were fostered and adopted from Collie Rescue of the Carolinas in 2001 by a friend of mine.  They were pampered and loved until they crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

The earrings are a gift for my friend in memory of her girls.

Bead Challenge – Day 27

Make a hair accessory…

“Bow ties are cool!”

Part of the credit for the inspiration that led to this barrette goes to Domestic Goddess Enterprises, who is also participating in the 30 Day Bead Challenge, is a fellow Doctor Who fan.  She mentioned that she had been watching Season 3, which led me to watch Matt Smith’s first episode again this afternoon.

The black beads are hematite finish, which gave me a hard time trying to photograph without a horrible glare.  When naturally lit, it looks like a starry sky.  Of all the pieces I’ve made during the month, this is my favorite (and the first barrette I’ve ever made).  I’m going to have to make a matching bracelet or choker!

The pattern for the barrette background is a simple 2-drop peyote.  Click image for printable size.
