It has been awhile since I’ve participated in My World. I realize it may seem like an odd post for the meme but this one is for Arija, who always shares her photos of Kip.

Every year, Collie Rescue of the Carolinas, holds a reunion for the rescues and their forever families in Burlington, NC. The reunion was held on November 7th, so, I’m a little late posting this. They had beautiful weather and everyone had a great time.

The first, and favorite, event of the day was sheep herding – with 33 collies participating for a certificate. Unfortunately, Sammy and I missed it this year but Robin (Sammy’s other mom) sent two pictures of Bogie (full name: “Deep River Iron Hill Dark Victory”) to share with everyone. Most people are familiar with Lassie (rough collie), Bogie is a beautiful smooth collie.

There was also an agility course, a “relay race for the hot dogs,” an auction, food (!), the “Blessing of the Collies”, a grooming demonstration, fishing (for the humans), and collie merchandise for sale.

Robin: Did someone bring a cake for the collies this year?

Sheep herding. That’s new to me and would love to have witnessed one. Sounds like a lot of fun!

He’s having a great time doing what collies are supposed to do, herd sheep.

Stephany: What a fun look at this fine herder. I think it was very well posted.
BTW: My photos are from three weeks ago and most of our leaves are gone. I took this in planning to make a post in conjunction with the main site.

It looks like he is having a great time! I think that it is a worthwhile cause rescuing animals. Though I have a cat, he was rescued by our neighbor and we adopted her cause she has 3 cats already.

BTW, I hope everything is well with you!

Do these dogs know how to herd instinctively or do they have to be shown? That’s a very funny dog – loves his work.

Great shots of the dog herding the sheep. They’re both good shots but I love the first one and how it really shows the dog’s agility going around the bend.

    That looks like fun :)
I’ve never heard of an event like that.
I bet the food was great, yumyum – and cake for dogs?
    Mine would be happy :D
