Don’t you love bulbs? Easy to plant, require very little care and multiply every year. My favorite kind of gardening.
The first photo is a Japanese peony. I think it’s called “Bowl of Beauty” but I can’t swear to it since I planted it four years ago. For some reason, it’s a little stunted this year. Normally, the flower is about 9″ across but this year it’s only around 6″. The other two are herbaceous peonies (double bomb type and 8″ across), they are “Eden’s Perfume”.
I have two of the herbaceous bushes. When they are in full bloom, you can smell them out by the curb. The middle photo was taken almost 10 days ago. The flower was so heavy that it broke the stem. I cut it and put it in a vase and it is still as pretty as it was when cut.
Who says the ants disappear after the buds have opened??
I’m running behind again (hands) and it may take me a day or two to visit. No better than my brain has been working, you may end up with mispelled (or missing) words…
Hi Stephany,
These are so gorgeous! I love the Japanese Peony and I’m checking out to see if I can find one of those. It’s so lovely.
Yours is the third peony with an ant I’ve seen for Today’s Flowers. I was even going to post one but changed my mind at the last minute. Maybe next week.
I’ve had a few issues and haven’t been blogging much. I’m away right now but trying to catch up on Sundays comments. I’ll email you when I get home.
Hope things are going well for you.

Wow, I have never grown peonies, but after seeing your photos, they will DEFINITELY be added to my list. The two tone pink on the first photo is spectacular!!!!!

Very beautiful macros. I like the soft pink flowers and that little visitor on your close-up photo.
That first picture was so spectacular! I love it so much!
My Today’s Flower is up HERE. Happy Monday!
I love Peonies. I can’t wait till mine are blooming. Isn’t it amazing how the ants work to open them up?
That’s a gorgeous peony and you got some fabulous shots.
I’m a sucker for pink flowers and a double sucker for peonies!

Hi Stephany, beautiful peonies, and the pastel color of pink is so soft. I wish I have the green thumb like yours.
P.S. I have been busy over the weekend “usurping” my daughter’s old blog. Too many spam comments and visitors and anonymous too.
I hope it will be normal this week. Thanks for stopping by.
