Bringing in the Sheep

I’ve been promising Sammy that he could herd sheep ever since I adopted him.  That day finally arrived.  Robin (Sammy’s former foster mom) and I loaded him and Lacey into my van and headed off to Findley Vue Farm in Burlington for the Collie Rescue Reunion yesterday.

Sammy may be dubbed “The Old Gentleman” but you’d never know he’s a senior (with arthritis) when it was his turn.  He passed with flying colors!  Robin and I were grinning fools, we were so surprised by his performance.

Lacey wasn’t too sure about it at first but gained confidence quickly.  She had a lot of fun and did very well.  Both dogs got certificates.

2011 Rescue Reunion

A few quick photos from the Collie Rescue Reunion in Burlington, NC today.  It was a beautiful day and everyone enjoyed themselves…in spite of the wind tossing the tent in the pond!

Simply Farmgirls

My friend Lela has been a member of the MaryJane Farmgirls for a number of years.  She got me interested and I looked up our local chapter.  I went to my first meeting this morning.  The other members were very nice and treated me like I had been with them for awhile, instead of the newbie that I am.  I am really looking forward to the next meeting.

We used part of the materials that you see to make air fresheners.  (We talked so much that we ran out of time before we could make the cleaners.)  For my air freshener, I used baking soda with lemon and peppermint essential oils.  I know it sounds like an odd combination but the result was a nice, light and clean scent.

Three great things about it:

  • It didn’t give me a headache like commercial air fresheners
  • For what it costs for one can of air freshener, I can make enough to last six months
  • It also works great as a rug deodorizer.
